Welcome to Sinks' English Portfolio!
I teach a unique junior/senior English class that combines literature, writing, web design, global studies, and economics in a two-year loop. Students create a digital portfolio using web design software that charts the progress of their goals, writing ability, and personal world-view.
Philosophy
Writing is meant to be published. This is why I expect students to produce "publishable" work, regardless of the format. This philosophy is at the heart of why students create a digital portfolio — it is the medium in which their voices are broadcast to a public audience
Publishing their work in such a format creates both ownership of their ideas and a sense of purpose for writing. Furthermore, a public display instills the need to take responsibility for sound, error-free writing.
Bio
I spent most of my childhood dribbling a basketball or throwing a baseball here in the Rogue Valley. This area is rich in outdoor activities, and I love the fact that I can snowboard in the winter and play golf in the summer. I have a daugther that is, as they say, "The apple of my eye," and I have a son who keeps me constantly going. I began teaching at Crater in 2006.
